Reflecting on RBTE

We had a great show this year at the third annual Retail Business Technology Exhibition (RBTE) which has truly established itself as ‘the’ must attend Retail Tech show in the UK.  We met lots of interesting retailers over the course of 2 days and noticed a distinctive change in the requirements retailers were keen to discuss.

Previously this show has always been about ‘what’s new’, but we found we were simply not being hit with this question this year.  It seemed to us coming away from the show, that these successful retailers, who so far have survived and even thrived, during the recession were getting back to basics.

The two main issues we were presented with were:

  • “Can you help us consolidate the management of our multi-channels to drive down costs, create efficiencies and provide a more seamless customer experience?”
  • “Can you help us capture, analyse and incentivise our customers?”

The answer to both of these questions from Futura is a resounding –YES WE CAN!

It reminded me of the article penned last year by our Sales Director, Paul Court, for ‘Retail Bulletin’, where he advised retailers to ‘get back to basics’ and accept that the current trading conditions are the ‘new normal’.   The insight we gained at the show suggests that the retailers who are doing well are doing just that!  Why not click here to read more?
