Expanding fixed price retailer Max 99p to standardise on Futura retail platform

With plans to open 10 to 12 stores per year for the next three years, one of the newest fixed price retailers, Max 99p, has selected the Futura EPOS and head office retail management system to provide a fast, flexible and robust retail solution capable of supporting staff in store and at head office as the brand grows.

Key factors for the management team in choosing Futura included strong sector experience, an easy to use yet functionally rich EPOS solution, which is quick to deploy, combined with in-depth access to the management information and reporting that is so essential for a young, dynamic and fast moving business.

Max 99p HavantMax 99p, which just opened its sixth store in Havant on the South coast, is for the first time taking the grocery model into the fixed price arena, adding further choice for budget conscious shoppers, with a focus on suburban locations and market towns rather than city centres. Futura will also support the management of a growing inventory with some 3,500 SKUs, where efficient allocations and accurate replenishment is essential to meet customer demand.

As well as adding good quality fresh foods and well-known brands to a wide range of popular product categories all at 99p or less, Max 99p will also provide wider aisles to improve the customer experience and staff will focus on good customer service and interaction, which in turn will help to drive continuing improvements in store.

“Our focus on the grocery model, alongside more traditional fixed price retail product categories, combined with our emphasis on customer interaction and strong customer service, significantly differentiates Max 99p from other brands in our sector,” explains co-founder and Commercial Director Dean Saunders.

“With experience of Futura from previous fixed price brands, selecting the retail and EPOS platform has been a straightforward decision for us. To date we have introduced Futura at our Bedworth store in Warwickshire and our latest opening in Havant in Hampshire and we plan to standardise on Futura as the brand grows. The experience so far has been very good. Roll out has been fast and although we are on a steep learning curve, reaction times to our needs and support from the Futura team has been excellent.” Saunders added.

Tina Royall, marketing director at Futura said: “Max 99p brings a totally fresh approach to the fixed price retail sector and it’s exciting to be involved at this early stage. With the Futura POS system running on Aures Yuno tills installed in the Bedworth and Havant stores and the head office solution in place, we are working hard with the management team to deliver the efficiency gains and speed of reporting they require. As confidence grows we expect that the business intelligence and CRM modules could also play an important role for Max 99p.”
